Exterior Painting — Colorado Springs, CO

Exterior Painting in Colorado Springs, CO — Action Painting & Remodeling | Done Right the First Time Since 1994

At 6,000 Feet, Colorado Springs Exterior Paint Works Harder Than Anywhere Else — So Do We
Action Painting & Remodeling has been doing exterior painting in Colorado Springs since 1994 — in Briargate, Flying Horse, Old Colorado City, Ivywild, Broadmoor, Rockrimmon, the Powers corridor, Northgate, Wolf Ranch, and neighborhoods across the city. Thirty years of painting exteriors in this city means we know what Colorado Springs weather does to paint — and what it takes to make a finish hold up through it. Call 719-634-5386 for a free estimate and we'll come take a look.
Most exterior paint jobs in Colorado Springs start failing earlier than they should — not because of bad paint, but because of bad prep. At 6,000 feet the UV index is roughly 25% more intense than at sea level. The freeze-thaw cycle through winter works moisture into every gap in the caulk line and every unsealed surface edge. Hail comes through the northeast side of the city — Briargate, Flying Horse, Wolf Ranch — most springs and leaves impact damage that compromises adhesion before the next coat ever goes on. Our painters assess every surface before they touch it — the prep is what determines whether a paint job holds five years or falls apart in two.
We've worked in every corner of Colorado Springs long enough to know what each neighborhood requires. The historic homes along Colorado Avenue in Old Colorado City have wood siding and trim that's been painted multiple times — each layer needs assessment before a new coat goes on top. The newer builds in Flying Horse near the golf club sit in full afternoon sun with nothing blocking the UV from the west. Rockrimmon homes on hillside lots have one side in shade and another in direct sun all day — those two walls need different products and different prep. Down in the Broadmoor area near Cheyenne Mountain the finish expectations are high and the Pikes Peak backdrop means every exterior gets looked at closely by visitors and neighbors alike. We know this city.

6,000

Colorado Springs sits at 6,035 feet. UV radiation is roughly 25% more intense than at sea level. We spec products and prep surfaces for this altitude — not for conditions in a lower, more forgiving climate.

Colorado Springs Neighborhoods We Serve for Exterior Painting

We do exterior painting throughout Colorado Springs. Every neighborhood has its own sun exposure, hail risk, housing age, and finish expectations — and we know them all from thirty years of working in this city.

Briargate Hail corridor, Chapel Hills Mall area, late 1990s-2000s construction
Flying Horse Full afternoon UV, golf club area, HOA color requirements common
Old Colorado City Historic homes, original wood siding, Colorado Avenue corridor
Broadmoor High finish expectations, Cheyenne Mountain area, premium properties
Rockrimmon Hillside lots, uneven UV exposure, mature pine canopy, Ute Valley area
Ivywild Bungalow and ranch construction, older stucco and wood siding
Powers Corridor Open sun exposure, northeast Colorado Springs, fast UV fading
Wolf Ranch & Northgate Newer construction, north Colorado Springs, hail-prone location

How We Do Exterior Painting in Colorado Springs

We start every Colorado Springs exterior job the same way — walking the full exterior and looking at each wall face separately. A south-facing wall in the Powers corridor that's been in direct sun for fifteen years needs different prep than a north-facing wall in Rockrimmon that's been shaded by pines. Same house different approach on different faces. Most contractors treat every wall the same. We don't.

Prep is where Colorado Springs exterior paint jobs succeed or fail. Pressure washing to remove dirt, chalking, and loose paint. Scraping and sanding where the existing finish is failing. Caulking every gap around windows, doors, trim, and penetrations — because at this altitude the freeze-thaw cycle will find every unsealed gap and work moisture in over winter. Priming bare wood and repaired surfaces before topcoat. None of this is optional. We don't cut corners on prep to finish faster.

Product selection matters more in Colorado Springs than most homeowners realize. We're not pulling paint off a shelf — we're matching the product to the surface type, the exposure direction, and the conditions that specific wall deals with through a full Colorado year. HOA color requirements are common in Flying Horse, Briargate, Wolf Ranch, and Northgate — we pull the approved palette, put physical samples on your actual siding before committing, and provide documentation of the product and color used once the job is done.

Most Colorado Springs exterior paint jobs take two to four days. You get a written estimate before anything starts. We don't rush dry times between coats regardless of the schedule — cutting dry time is how paint fails early and we won't do it.

Exterior Painting Colorado Springs — FAQ

Do you serve Briargate, Flying Horse, and Old Colorado City for exterior painting?+
Yes — all three are neighborhoods we work in regularly and each one has its own set of conditions. Briargate sits in the northeast hail corridor and we see a lot of exterior jobs there after spring storm seasons. Flying Horse homes near the golf club get full afternoon sun with nothing blocking the UV from the west. Old Colorado City has historic homes with original wood trim and siding that needs careful prep before any new coat goes on. We assess each property individually based on what's actually there.
How long should exterior paint hold up on a Colorado Springs home?+
Done right — seven to ten years on a well-prepped exterior in most Colorado Springs locations. South and west-facing walls in open-sun neighborhoods like the Powers corridor and Flying Horse are on the shorter end of that range. More sheltered walls in Rockrimmon with tree cover can go longer. The biggest variables are prep quality and product selection — a cheap paint job on an unprepped surface might start failing in two or three years. We've seen it and we won't do it.
Can you match my Flying Horse HOA's required exterior color?+
Yes — Flying Horse has HOA design guidelines with approved exterior color palettes and we've worked within them before. We pull the current approved palette, put physical color samples on your actual siding before committing to anything, and provide documentation of the product and color used once the job is complete. Don't rely on a color chip alone — colors look different on a full exterior in Colorado Springs light than they do in the store or on a small sample card.
My Broadmoor home has stucco — does exterior painting on stucco require special prep?+
Yes — stucco needs elastomeric coating, not standard exterior paint. Colorado's freeze-thaw cycle works moisture into hairline cracks in stucco all winter and standard paint bridges those cracks rather than moving with them, which leads to peeling and lifting. Elastomeric coatings flex with the stucco through temperature changes. We also repair cracks before painting — painting over unrepaired stucco cracks doesn't fix them, it hides them temporarily until the next freeze-thaw cycle opens them back up.
Do you offer free estimates for exterior painting in Colorado Springs?+
Yes — always free, no obligation. We come out to your Colorado Springs property, walk the full exterior, assess every surface and wall face, and give you a written estimate that explains what we're doing and why. Most estimates take 30–45 minutes on site. Call 719-634-5386 or email [email protected] to set one up.

A Message from Aaron Noffsinger, Owner & President

To Our Customers

When I returned from military service, I knew I wanted to build a business the right way—built on discipline, accountability, and doing the job right the first time.

That standard has guided Action Painting & Remodeling since 1994.

When we take on a project, we put our name and reputation behind it. No shortcuts. No surprises. If something isn’t right, we make it right—every time.

What I’m most proud of isn’t the years in business, but the trust our customers place in us. Referrals from clients to their friends and family mean everything, and we work hard to earn that trust on every job.

Colorado Springs is our home. Every project we complete is in our own community, and we treat it that way.

If you choose to work with us, I will personally make sure the work meets your expectations—fully, not partially.

Thank you for trusting us.
